32 | Report Continued from LIC 9099...
It was alleged that facility has an outbreak of scabies due to staff neglect of infection control guidelines. It was reported that both staff and residents have contracted scabies due to facility staff not taking precautions and following infection control guidelines throughout the facility to avoid the spread. Interviews conducted with facility staff revealed that the Ventura County Public Health (VCPH) Department was notified the day following confirmation of a resident's scabies diagnosis. Record review of facility records indicated that on 06/16/2026, the facility received notification from a resident's physician assistant documenting a clinical diagnosis of scabies based on the resident's presenting signs and symptoms. On 06/17/2026, facility staff notified VCPH of the confirmed case. Facility staff stated that VCPH provided guidance and recommendations regarding resident isolation, treatment, infection prevention and control measures, and ongoing monitoring. Staff further stated that residents who tested positive for scabies were placed on self-isolation and remained isolated until they were no longer considered contagious. Staff also reported that all residents in both the Assisted Living and Memory Care units were receiving meals in their rooms to minimize resident contact. In addition, all group activities and congregations were suspended until further notice as an infection control measure to reduce and prevent further spread. Based on the information obtained during the course of the investigation, there is insufficient evidence to support the allegation of “facility has an outbreak of scabies due to staff neglect of infection control guidelines”. Therefore, this allegation is deemed Unsubstantiated at this time.
